The high-powered UNLV offense is hoping to gain a little more ground on New Mexico to grab a share of first place in the Mountain West with a win over the Air Force Falcons today.
Vegas and online sportsbooks are giving the Runnin Rebels a 17 point edge, but given their recent stumbles, that number may be a little high. Just last week, UNLV dropped two in a row for the first time all season, losing to TCU and New Mexico in the course of a couple awful nights.
They returned to their winning ways on Wednesday with a 75-58 win over the Mountain West basement dwelling Boise State Broncos (13-13, 3-8). Senior guard Chace Stanback led the UNLV comeback with 19 points, but how impressive is a win over the Broncos?
Air Force is not likely to be intimidated as they roll into Sin City. Just a few days ago they knocked off #15 San Diego State (21-6, 7-4) 58-56. The last time the Falcons faced off against UNLV, the Runnin Rebels squeaked out a 65-63 OT win. Though Air Force couldn’t seal the deal, the held the men from Vegas well below their, very impressive, 81 point per game average (that number is down to 78 ppg now).
For the month of February, UNLV is only 2-4 ATS, and 3-3 SU. They’re 13-14 ATS for the season, and 9-5 ATS at home. Air Force is 10-9 ATS and 5-3 ATS on the road.
There’s no reason why the Running Rebels shouldn’t win this game, but that 17 point line reflects the hopes of easy money chasing squares. Air Force plays competitively against ranked opponents and isn’t likely to fall behind that much.

New Jersey Senator Pushes Online Bet Bill
New Jersey - the Silicone Valley of Online Gambling? Don't laugh. Maybe this didn't seem possible even 12 months ago, but cash strapped states are looking to create inovative ways to generate tax revenue.
States are looking to move fast on the heels of the recent US Justice Department ruling "in-state Internet gambling does not violate federal law", and Jersey would like to be there to capitalize on this momentous shift in online gaming.
State Sen. Raymond Lesniak told The Associated Press on Monday he'll try to get a bill through the Legislature and on Gov. Chris Christie's desk by next week. The goal is to make New Jersey the national leader in online gambling, now that the federal government says in-state bets do not violate the law.
"We can be the Silicon Valley of Internet gaming," said Lesniak, a Democrat from northern New Jersey. "It's the wave of the future. It's going to come and we can be in the lead on it."
